Yongjin Liu

I completed my undergraduation in Bioengineering from  Jimei University and went ahead to do Masters in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Xiamen University in China. I joined the department in 2013 as a graduate student. Most natural environments are colonized by a diverse collection of bacteria. How they fit into the environment largely depends on how they interact with each other. My research at Straight Lab includes use of B. subtilis and Streptomyces sp. to study interspecies interaction. Based on the previous screening, I’m studying how the factors released from Streptomyces sp. induce the motility of B. subtilis, what they are and how the motility is induced.
